Birgunj, July 20 – The Nepal Bharat Millat Council successfully organized a grand Indo-Nepal Intellectual Gathering Program at Pujan Hotel in Birgunj, bringing together prominent leaders, intellectuals, and community representatives from both nations. The event aimed to strengthen the historic and cultural ties between Nepal and India while promoting mutual understanding and harmony among diverse communities.
Chief Guest Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, lauded the Council’s long-standing efforts to foster goodwill, religious tolerance, and people-to-people connections. “Nepal and India share a centuries-old relationship that goes beyond political and economic dimensions. Our ties are rooted in culture, language, and shared values of coexistence and peace,” Minister Chaurasiya said during his address.
Distinguished guests included Abdul Khan, Chairperson of the Industry, Commerce, Labor, and Consumer Affairs Committee; Acting Chairperson of the Muslim Commission, Mahamudin Ali; former State Ministers Karima Begum and Jakir Hussain; and Sanjay Kumar, Consul General of the Indian Embassy in Birgunj. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 2,000 attendees, reflecting the strong support for the Council’s initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Samim Miya Ansari, Founder Chairperson of the Muslim Commission and President of the Nepal Bharat Millat Council, emphasized that the organization’s primary mission is to enhance the deep-rooted people-to-people relations between Nepal and India. “We are bound by geography, culture, language, and attire. Our countries are like close neighbors and family. Any attempt to spread negativity or division among Hindus and Muslims will never succeed,” Ansari said.
Ansari also highlighted Nepal’s identity as a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-religious nation, referring to it as a “shared garden of diversity” that requires collective responsibility to preserve. The Council, he added, has been actively working to support social welfare, empower women entrepreneurs through skill-based training, and promote youth development.
Over the years, the Nepal Bharat Millat Council has carried out several humanitarian activities, including the provision of scholarships, ambulances, school buses, and tailoring and vocational training programs for women. The organization also played a crucial role in providing relief during the 2015 earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic. “We remain dedicated to building brotherhood and extending support to communities in need,” Ansari reiterated.
The program concluded with a commitment from all participants to work towards strengthening Indo-Nepal relations at the grassroots level, encouraging cultural exchanges, and upholding the spirit of religious harmony and social unity.
